What Is the TCG Confession Booth?

Last updated 2026-07-25

The short answer

The confession booth is where collectors anonymously admit their trading card sins, like opening product they swore they would keep sealed or trading away a card that later spiked. Confessions are moderated before appearing publicly, must contain no personal information, and can be deleted by you for free at any time. Absolution is parody and legally binding on no one.

What the booth is

The confession booth is a public wall of anonymous collector guilt. You type your TCG sin, submit it, and after moderation it may appear for the congregation to read, wince at, and recognize themselves in. Classic entries include opening the box that was definitely being kept sealed, trading a card the week before it tripled, alphabetizing a binder at 3 a.m. instead of sleeping, and buying a fourth copy of a deck that was already finished.

The booth exists because every collector carries at least one of these, and carrying them alone is heavier. It is a comedy feature with a genuinely warm core, which describes most of this site on a good day.

House rules

Rule one, no personal information. Not yours and not anyone else's. No full names, no usernames from other platforms, no store names attached to accusations, no addresses, no contact details. Confess the sin, not the census data. Submissions containing personal info are rejected in moderation.

Rule two, everything is moderated before it appears publicly. We screen out personal info, harassment, and anything that is not in the spirit of a comedy confession wall. Rule three, deletion is free and always available. It is your confession, and you can remove it whenever you want, no fee, no questions, no exit interview with the clergy.

Confessions are anonymous by default. You can attach a display name if you want partial credit for your sins, but nothing requires it, and we recommend confessing the truly embarrassing ones nameless like everybody else does.

Why collectors confess

Partly catharsis. Saying the thing out loud, even pseudonymously into a parody church, takes the private sting out of it. Partly community, because the fastest way to feel normal about trading away a future chase card is reading forty other people who did the same thing. And partly comedy, since collector guilt is objectively funny at a safe distance, especially someone else's.

There is also a quietly useful side effect. Reading a wall of confessions is a free education in the hobby's most common regrets. Impulse box purchases, chasing one card through sealed product, and treating packs as an investment plan appear constantly. The booth is our most honest odds page, written entirely by the congregation.

About absolution

Absolution on TCG Prayer is a parody stamp on a comedy confession, issued by a fictional institution with no authority of any kind. It does not undo trades, restore sealed status, or improve future pulls, because nothing on this site improves pulls, as our lawyers enjoy us repeating. What it does is close the bit with a flourish, and sometimes that is exactly what a person who opened their retirement box at 1 a.m. needs.

Frequently asked

Is the confession booth really anonymous?

Confessions display no identity unless you choose to add a display name, and personal information is filtered out in moderation. Anonymous is the default and the norm.

Can I delete my confession later?

Yes, at any time, for free. Deletion is a standing promise of the booth, not a premium feature.

Will my confession definitely be posted?

No. Everything passes through moderation first, and submissions with personal info, harassment, or off spirit content are rejected. The booth is for comedy confessions, not callouts.

Does confessing or getting absolved improve my future pulls?

No. Absolution is parody and pull rates are unmoved by all rituals on this site. The booth improves your mood, not your odds, and it makes no promises about your mood either.
